#50 - Extraordinary June 2015!

This June is an extraordinary month!

Here is our praise list!

1. We moved to a new house last week (just across the street).  Everything went smoothly although it was still a hassle to pack, move and unpack.

2. Gryphon and Joelle has started their summer holiday in early June.

3. Amy and the children are in Hong Kong right now.

4. Thomas is staying in Cambodia to spend more time with our students in our Discipleship & Dormitory program

5. A visiting team from a church in Hong Kong visited our dorm and have a great Saturday fellowship with our students.

6. Two of our dormitory students become our Accounting Apprentices this month.

7. God also opened doors for more serving opportunities for us in His Kingdom:

  • For the university student café ministry, despite of the serious management issue that we mentioned last time, the board has asked us to manage the café temporary and with the goal to train up the local supervisors to manage the café themselves in a few months.  The work started this past Monday.
  • We are very privileged for God to open this new opportunity to partner with a new mission group from Hong Kong.  We praise God for the group's vision to open a new student resource center in Phnom Penh in August 2015. It will provide more opportunities to share the gospel to neighboring children, youth and families and also to support other missionaries doing students’ ministries like ourselves.

Prayer list:

  • Please pray for our health as all of us have some sort of cold since early June, e.g. coughing, sneezing, etc.  Amy and the children are receiving medication in Hong Kong, but it is hard for Thomas to find good doctor in Cambodia.  Please pray he will be able to find good medication.
  • Please pray for the university student café ministry.  The transition over the past weekend has proven very difficult as there are many personal emotion involved.  Please pray for Thomas, while Amy is not in Cambodia, that God would grant him wisdom to solve many different and very difficult issues.  Pray that God would teach us all to seek Him and not seek oneself in our lives.  Pray for the local staff (which are mostly students) to continue to learn how to have a Godly life by serving Him at their work and school.
  • Please pray for the new opportunity to partner with the mission group from Hong Kong.  There will be many uncertainties during this planning stage including our role and involvement.  But we pray that this center will be used by God as a bright light to shine and reach people in its neighborhood.

P.S. Amy will have a brief sharing of our ministry in Hong Kong on the following dates and places during Sunday worship:

5 July 2015 (10:30am)
中華基督教會長老堂 Cheung Lo Church, 91A, Prince Edward Road West, Mong Kok

12 July 2015 (11:00am)
Clearwater Bay International Baptist Church, Clearwater Bay School, Lot 235, DD229, Clear Water Bay Rd, Clear Water Bay
